Lunar Awakening is a special festival in Diablo 4, mainly to celebrate Lunar New Year (also known as Chinese New Year). Players can activate Lunar Shrines, purify the corrupt power, win rich theme rewards and buffs, and experience an adventure feast full of oriental mythology.

How To Play?
Players need to go to Ked Bardu waypoint in Dry Steppes and find the core NPC Ying-Yue in the north of the town. As the leader of Lunar Night Market, she will guide players to start the event quest line and provide Ancestral Favor reputation progress query function (choose “How are the ancestors feeling about me lately?” in the dialogue).
The entire event spans six major areas of the map: Scosglen, Fractured Peaks, Dry Steppes, Kehjistan, Hawezar, and Nahantu. Players need to explore every corner to find traces of Lunar Shrines.
Gameplay
Players can find the location of Lunar Shrines on the map. They appear as a purple star on the minimap. The specific appearance of Shrines is a snake-shaped altar.
Lunar Awakening event has a Mastery objective. You will encounter Lunar Celebrants, and she needs to purify Lunar Shrines. Players need to kill 3 Miserly Spirit Elite Enemies within 30 seconds to protect her from being harmed by the miserly spirits.
Activating the shrine can gain a lot of benefits. Your interaction with any shrine will bring you the following benefits:
- +50% kill experience
- +30% movement speed
- Strength increase
- Increase Ancestral Favor reputation
Player will also trigger special effects according to the type of shrine (such as summoning Treasure Goblin, reflecting damage, etc.). A total of 7 types must be activated to unlock the title reward. The following are the specific shrine effects:
- Artillery Shrine: When casting, there is a chance to summon a sacred bomb, bombing the enemy in range.
- Blast Wave Shrine: Each explosion triggers a chain bombing, and the efficiency of clearing the field is extremely high.
- Channeling Shrine: Frequently summon sky lightning strikes, causing devastating damage to dense enemies.
- Greed Shrine: Summon Treasure Goblin after killing 25/50 times, and it will drop rare loot, such as Diablo 4 mats, potions, etc.
- Lethal Shrine: Chance to kill non-boss enemies and terrorize surrounding targets instantly and elite monsters are also affected, but players are not affected.
- Protection Shrine: Reflects all damage, and the value increases with the character level and world difficulty.
- Channeling Shrine: Increases attack speed and cooldown reset probability, suitable for skill cycle genres.
After activating all 7 types of Lunar Shrines, players can get a title. If you want to see the progress of your quest completion, you can find Awakened Them All at the bottom of Feats of Strength UI to see which shrines you have not found.
Ancestor’s Favor dungeon affix will appear in Nightmare Dungeon Sigils with a chance during Lunar Awakening event. This not only increases the number of shrines but also ensures that only Lunar Shrines will be generated in specific Nightmare Dungeons.
Rewards
If you focus on completing tasks efficiently, it will only take you 2-4 hours to accumulate reputation by killing enemies in Lunar Shrines and completing events, reach the maximum level 10, and claim all rewards.
Players can earn a large amount of Diablo 4 gold with each level increase, and the maximum level reward is the mount Moonborn Stallion.
Here are some rewards with unique appearances. Reputation level rewards:
- Rank 2: Lunar Scepter can be transmogrified in Wardrobe.
- Rank 4: Dragon’s Courage can be transmogrified in Wardrobe.
- Rank 6: Moonshot Bow, a magical decorative bow, can be transmogrified in Wardrobe.
- Rank 8: Dragon’s Tapestry, a Cosmetic Body Marking that can be used by all classes.
- Rank 9: Moon’s Bounty, Cosmetic Mount Trophy, transmogrifiable.
- Rank 10: Moonborn Stallion, a horse with ancient patterns, transmogrifiable.
In Ranks 1, 3, 5, and 7, players will receive Magic Rarity Cache of Items and other loot that does not include unique appearances.
